Mixed reactions continues to follow the sacking of Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri who himself seems unmoved by the sacking. While majority of those allied to Raila Odinga lauded the move as timely and one that will resuscitate the dying fortunes of farmers, those allied to Deputy President read malice, deceit and betrayal.

Kirinyaga governor Ann Waiguru has lauded the President’s move to sack Kiunjuri saying it cements Uhuru’s seriousness on the Big 4 agenda and the fight against corruption. Waiguru chided Kiunjuri for engaging in politics instead of focusing on service delivery to the people. “Kiunjuri’s sacking serves him right. That’s the price for disrespecting the President, politicking instead of delivering on the Big 4 agenda”, she said.

She heaped praised on the incoming CS Fred Munya as a perfomer who has proven himself first as a governor and as Trade CS saying she had no doubt he will transform the agriculture sector that has become an exploitation field against hardworking farmers.

Waiguru has been part of the Kieleweke group which has been going round campaigning for BBI and her remarks might sound ironical and lend credence to assertion by pro-Ruto team that Uhuru Kenyatta is intolerant only to their political activities.

Uhuru Kenyatta and Mwangi Kiunjuri are known bosom friends who have a soft spots for each other but President Kenyatta has been on a full throttle lately crashing anybody and anything TangaTanga _a fact that Kiunjuri admitted his sacking did not come as a surprise given his political inclination towards William Ruto. A jovial Kiunjuri while addressing press at a city hotel said while his sacking was imminent, it came as a blessing in disguise to enable him pursue other activities. Kiunjuri is seen as the likely choice of running mate for William Ruto and is admired by majority of leaders from Mt. Kenya. In October last year, he rallied over ninety MPs from the region to a meeting in Embu to express their reservation for the BBI
