The choice of Eldoret BBI rally master of ceremony has jolted the ODM MPs into confusion. This comes as the decision by Jubilee MPs to join BBI rallies and take leading roles continue to draw mixed reactions. Yesterday in an interview at a local vernacular station, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi declared himself the Eldoret BBi rally MC and called for his colleagues in ODM to respect the region and its leadership.
Sudi’s remarks were in response to ODM threat to TangaTanga MPs to join the rallies in good faith warning that any attempt to cause chaos will be dealt ruthlessly. It has also emerged that MPs allied to Uhuru and Kenyatta are planning to lock out TangaTanga allied MPs from making speeches in Mombasa. Junet Mohammed while warning his counterparts from Jubilee that they will not accept to be passengers in their own bus, said BBI has a Mombasa steering committee which will be in charge of the program. The committee is led by Mombasa governor Hassan Joho
“BBI is and ODM affair. It’s an initiative between Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga and therefore we will not be driven in our bus. TangaTanga MPs should respect us”, he said.
If ODM make good its threat to deny MPs allied to DP William Ruto a space in the podium and a chance to address the residents of Mombasa, then all indication point to a similar fate befalling the ODM MPs at the Eldoret rally. This might be a setup to force the team allied to Raila Odinga to be accomodative as much as possible.
The choice of Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi as the faces leading BBI activities in Rift Valley has also not augured well with the residents. Whether the duo can mount serious BBi activities in Rift Valley remains to be seen.
