Chronology of events leading to Uhuru Ruto 5 hour meeting

President Uhuru’s 5-hour meeting with Ruto comes in the backdrop of events that might have shaped the highly charged secret meeting in State House. Just last week, Uhuru warned all government officials to desist from attending BBi meetings and related activities. The veil threat was targeted at Interior CS Fred Matiang’i, Eugene Wamalwa and Rachel Shebesh. The trio have been very vocal about BBI and the impending constitutional amendment. But what is believed to have irked President Uhuru Kenyatta into convening the meeting with Ruto is Raila’s jibe at the government that it varied the cost of Standard gauge railway by 100 per cent from 250 USD to 450 USD. Here is the chronology of events that shaped the secret 5-hour meeting with Ruto.

On Friday 24th: President stops CSs and government officials from attending BBI rallies and related activities.

In the same week, TangaTanga MPs declare they will be attended BBI rallies starting from Mombasa. The announcement got the ODM party by surprise.

On Saturday 25th: Mombasa BBI rally becomes the bashing ground for Kenyatta vast land. Speakers accused Kenyatta family as the ‘absentee landlord’ as they called for the implementation of the Ndungu land report which adversely mentions the first family.

Sunday 26th: Uhuru and Ruto met for the first time in public in over a month. The duo met at Milimani AIC church.

On the same day, Kenyatta family hold a lengthy private meeting starting at lunch that extended late into the night. Ngina is said to have reprimanded Uhuru over his stand on BBI and the ridicule the family was exposed to during the Mombasa rally.

In the same Sunday, President Uhuru okays an informal Jubilee parliamentary group meeting to be held at their Family Hotel in Naivasha, attended by over 200 MPs.

8. On Sunday Night during an interview on a local TV station, Raila’ lose mouth accuses Uhuru of inflating the cost of Standard Gauge Railway from 250 billion to 450.

On Monday Morning, the 27th, President Uhur held a 5-hour meeting with Ruto at State House. The meeting started at 11am and ended at around 4pm. Personal aides were not allowed. The agenda of the meeting still unknown.
