Gatundu MP Moses Kuria has said Joyce Wanja, the lady who alleges was assaulted wanted to blackmail him for Ksh, 100,000 -a move that the legislator vehemently rejected. “The lady is a conman, an extortionist being used by some PS at Harambee house”, said Kuria. According to Dennis Itumbi, the complainant Joyce Wanja approached him several times asking for Ksh. 100, 000 for her to drop the allegations but Moses Kuria insisted he was innocent and would not give her any money.
“I will be at Kilimani police station in the afternoon to record a statement in favor of Moses Kuria. The complainant approached me asking for money. Moses insisted he was not guilty and said he would not be blackmailed”, said Dennis Itumbi.
Moses Kuria was arrested in the morning when he had presented himself to Kilimani police station after a viral video of Joyce Wanja emerged on social media alleging she was assaulted by Moses Kuria while at Royal media services premises. “Moses Kuria attacked me after I confronted him about remarks he made in fundraiser in Kiambu”, said Wanja.
The video emerged today months after the alleged incident took place in December and Tangatanga MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto are reading malice and politics at play. They accused interior CS Fred Matiangi and PS Karanja Kibicho of using the police, and Friday arrests to intimidate and silence those opposed to the handshake and the amendment of the constitution. The MPs have called for immediate and unconditional release of their colleague.
