Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo has joined an array of leaders from Mt Kenya who have warned Uhuru Kenyatta against reneging on his deal with Ruto to support him in 2022. Kabogo cautioned Uhuru Kenyatta that he risks dividing the country further if the BBI will be interpreted as a scheme to lock out the DP.
Kabogo credited Ruto for the 2013 and 2017 Jubilee election victories saying Uhuru would not be President now were it not for Ruto. The former governor questioned the sincerity of the handshake and why it excluded William Ruto and other 2022 key players.
“Where Raila Odinga gets into, things go awfully wrong… if indeed this handshake is genuine as claimed out there and it’s intention was to bring peace, why did they not include Ruto, Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka? quipped Kabogo. Kabogo took issues with BBi saying it’s not a TangaTanga or Kieleweke initiative but a scheme by Raila to win the ever elusive Presidency.
“BBI is Raila’s scheme to take power through the backdoor. He knows he has failed often and again but he keeps scheming but its obvious it will failed”, he said. Kabogo thus warned Uhuru Kenyatta to be wary of the opposition leader saying he risks causing animosity in Kenya while trying to satisfy ambitions of an individual.
The former Kiambu governor has now called for a second handshake between Raila Odinga, William Ruto, and other 2022 candidates. ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka are the other contenders.
The former Kiambu governor recounted the events that birthed the political union between Uhuru and Ruto saying he was one of the key player in the negotiations that lasted for 3 days.
“I know where Ruto and the President Kenyatta started their political union. Uhuru and I drove to Ruto’s Karen home. We were just the two of us. We sat under a tree for three days negotiating a good working relationship. I must say Ruto helped Uhuru to win and the least Uhuru should do is payback in equal measure. Do you think Jubilee would have won without William Ruto. Let Uhuru be warned that he has the mandate to unite all Kenyans?” he said.
