A section of Kiambu residents have threatened to evict incoming governor James Nyoro and are now calling for fresh elections. According to the residents, Nyoro is cut from the same cloth as Waititu and should be equally shown the door. Led my MCAs allied to the ousted governor, they have threatened to block Nyoro from stepping in to the offices.
The residents’ demand comes as heavy contingent of police gave been deployed at Kiambu county headquarters where the swearing is expected to take place. Yesterday, the swearing in aborted after the presiding judge Onyiego declined to administer Nyoro the oath of office saying due process was not followed.
Waitutu’s bid to block the swearing in of his former deputy Dr. James Nyoro hit a a snag after Justice Weldon Korir declined to issue ex-parte orders barring the swearing in. The swearing in of Nyoro will completely dent Waititu’s hopes of ever stepping back into the the county offices since Nyoro will be the substantive governor and removing him maybe subject to constitutional provisions.
Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo has also waded into the debate calling fro fresh elections. Kabogo chided the residents for overstepping him and electing Ferdinand Waititu when he had an impeccable track record. The first governor of Kiambu had kept a relatively low profile since losing to Waititu in 2017.
