Residence of a small village in Kitui are mourning after their teacher was murdered in cold blood over claims of poor KCPE results. Madam Daisy Mbathe Mbaluka a TSC employed teacher in Ndooni primary school in Endau, Mutitu sub county, Kitui East met her gruel-some and untimely death when irate parents descended on her as she was taking her children to school.
The incident happened when irate parents demonstrating over the school’s poor KCPE results had camped at the school gate demanding immediate transfer of all teachers. Pandemonium broke out when the parents descended on the helpless teacher who could not flee away with her colleagues and she was burned to ashes. The ministry of education has since closed the school as police commenced investigations. Several suspects have been arrested and will be arraigned in court. Dickson Muasya, the school headteacher has also recorded a statement with the police.
The Knut secretary general Wilson Sossion has since condemned the incident calling for the perpetrators to be brought to be brought to book. Sossion also called on the government and police to provide a safe working environment for their teachers. “For unknown reasons, parents invaded the school, evicted the teacher, and later ambushed her while she was taking her children to school, killing her instantly, and setting her body aflame,” said Sossion.
