A 23-year-old woman shocked residents of Migori town on Wednesday as she tried to sell her two kids for Sh 400,000.

The woman claimed to be overwhelmed by the burden of raising her four children. She decided to sell her four and two-year-old daughters to raise money to buy a piece of land.

The woman claimed she was disowned by her husband. She said all her children were sired by various men she met in different places across the country.

“After siring them with different men, I have been through difficult situations with these kids. I have decided to sell the young girls for Sh 200,000 each and buy land where I would be able to settle with the other children

The woman alleged she had tried to seek help from the well-wishers in vain.

“No-one now seems to welcome me. I don’t have a shelter and I stayed with the kids in makeshifts and sometimes without food. I’d be very pleased to have someone buy my two daughters, “she said.

Police later whisked her away to the police station for questioning.
