Embattled Jubilee Vice Chair David Murathe has said William Ruto is no longer the Deputy President and that his role has been taken over by Interior CS Fred Matiangi.
Murathe who was speaking in Nyeri on Tuesday afternoon said Ruto’s sole job was to deputise the President –a role he says Ruto abdicated and went about campaigning to the detriment of Uhuru’s legacy project -The big 4 Agenda.
According to Murathe, Matiangi will be in charge from Wednesday when President Uhuru Kenyatta jets to France to negotiate Sh 180 billion loan deal with the French government.
“Ruto currently has no job. His only job was to deputise and he failed. You all know his duties were taken over by Fred Matiangi and he is the one in charge of coordinating other ministers.
Even from tomorrow when the President will be away, Matiangi will be the one in charge,” Murathe said.
Murathe accused Ruto of staging campaigns from the moment Uhuru was re-elected in 2017 , a move he says has derailed the government’s Big 4 Agenda.
It’s because of Ruto’s early campaigns that Murathe says Uhuru rescinded on supporting Ruto’s 2022 bid.
“Uhuru Kenyatta was even ready to support and campaign for the guy in 2022, but then Ruto thought, this guy is a sitting duck, I don’t need him and started his early campaigns,” he added.
“You also saw Ruto going all over the country launching ghost projects which don’t happen, you saw the pledges he gave about the stadia, it has taken the involvement of the president to have the stadia done, you cannot give pledges without figuring out how that will be financed” , he said.
It’s because of these failed promises by Jubilee government that Murathe says President Uhuru Kenyatta may never realize his Big 4 Agenda.
This is the first time Murathe appeared in public since he was implicated in the Sh 43 billion KEMSA scandal.
His company Kilig, was also among the 51 persons and entities that EACC forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution ,DPP Nurdin Haji recommending prosecution.
The DPP will from next week expected to give a way forwarded as to whether he will charge those implicated in the theft of Covid-19 funds.
