Nakuru BBI rally postponed amid Raila health concern

Raila's health the reason behind postponement of nakuru BBI rally

Nakuru BBI rally has been postponed amid Raila’s heath concerns.

There has been fears within the BBI secretariat that Raila Odinga may not get well in time for the Nakuru BBI rally that was scheduled for the 7, March 2020.

Raila has been battling a bout of flu that saw him hospitalized over the weekend but was later discharged and advised to take a rest from intense political activities.

Nakuru governor Lee Kinjajui announced the postponement of the much anticipated Rift valley edition BBi rally.

“The planned Nakuru BBI sensitization rally will be held on 21st March 2020”, announced Kinyanjui through his facebook page.

The governor said the postponement was to allow for consultative meetings to build consensus on the document and include local agenda.

The Nakuru BBI rally is expected to bring over 10 counties from Rift Valley and many other national leaders will be in attendance.

“As the host County, we urge for tolerance and inclusion for the best interest of the Rift Valley residents. In addition, sobriety and objectivity in tackling the key issues outlined in the BBI will be greatly encouraged”, he added

However, Daily Star can authoritatively report that the postponement was occasioned by Raila’s deteriorating health that has become a concern to the BBI secretariat.

Raila has been the leading face of BBI and has been chairing strategy meetings as well as being the chief guest during the rallies.

During the Meru BBI rally, Raila lost his voice and the BBI secretariat are keen to have the opposition leader recover before the rally.

“Raila is sick. This explains the postponement of the rally by two weeks to give the him time to recover and regain his voice”, said a source.

The postponement of Nakuru BBI rally comes amid threats by the ODM party to block TangaTanga legislators Kipchumba Murkomen and Moses Kuria from attending Nakuru BBI rally. The party accused the duo of disrupting the rallies as was the case in Meru where the supporters walked out on Raila Odinga.
