ODM MPs wants Ruto to resign or be impeached for disrespecting the President

A section of MPs allied to ODM leader Raila Odinga and Uhuru Kenyatta have taken a swipe at Deputy President William Ruto over his continued remarks undermining the handshake and BBi. The pro-BBi MPs led by minority whip Junet Mohammed want the Deputy President William Ruto to resign or be impeached for disrespecting President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The MPs who were holding a press conference at the precincts of Parliament Building said William Ruto was hiding behind Raila Odinga but in essence attacking the President since the two are pro- handshake. The MPs now want Ruto to man up enough and face the President directly. The lawmakers comprising of ODM and Kieleweke wing of Jubilee maintained that by declaring war against the BBi, Ruto was indirectly fighting Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga.

In a statement read by Junet Mohammed, the leaders demanded for the immediate resignation of William Ruto who they claimed is undermining the authority of the President.
“The sentiments by Ruto are not only divisive but also an affront to the President who is a sign of unity. Ruto hiding behind Raila and BBi is open camouflage which should be exposed for what it is”, said Junet Mohammed.

“It is clear for all and sundry to see that Ruto is hiding behind BBI to fight the President and the state officers the President has entrusted to deliver his government agenda”, he added.

The MPs said if Ruto doesn’t resign, they will be collecting signatures to impeach him saying they have the requisite numbers. In the alternative the MPs have threatened to sponsor a constitutional amendment in Parliament to allow the President to fire the Deputy President.

Nominated MP asked Ruto to respect the President since he is his principal assistant. During the weekend in Narok, DP Ruto castigated the BBi saying it’s been hijacked by Raila Odinga for personal interest and craft 2022 alliances.
