Livondo has moved to court to block Ruto’s bid to run for Presidency in 2022
He has denied being sponsored by Raila
He wants Ruto and Matiang’i barred from 2022 race.
Controversial politician popularly known as Mr. Money bag has denied claims that he is sponsored by opposition leader Raila Odinga to block DP William Ruto’s bid to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2022.
Yesterday, Livondo moved to court seeking to bar Ruto saying he should retire with President Uhuru Kenyatta. Livondo has sued the Attorney General seeking to be compelled to bar William Ruto from contesting arguing that members of the executive which includes the deputy President and cabinet secretaries cannot vie in subsequent general elections since they are part of the presidency which has served two terms.
His suit has already attracted controversy with many accusing him of being sponsored by Raila Odinga–a tag the politiician would not want to be associated saying he is an independent man.
” What am doing is for the good of the country. I have not been sponsored by anybody and I will pursue this case to the end. William Ruto and Fred Matiang’i should not vie since they are part of the Presidency which has served 2 terms”, he said.
If the controversial politician will have his way in court, then DP William Ruto and Interior CS CS Fred Matiang’i will not be eligible. A section of politicians from Kisii have been drumming up support for the CS saying he is best suit to face off William Ruto at the ballot.
