The BBI game is getting uglier, messy, and as intricate as a web as days goes by. It has now emerged that it is the Deputy President William Ruto who prevailed upon ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula to attend the Bukhungu stadium rally. The media had widely misreported that it was President Uhuru Kenyatta who persuaded the duo. Musalia and Wetangula surprised many when they arrived at Bukhungu stadium much to the ululation of their supports. The duo landed in a charted chopper 5Y-TXM owned by Exclusives Air Services associated with William Ruto.

ANC Secretary General Barrack Muluka while denying that he was not privy to any call from President Uhuru Kenyatta, confirmed that indeed William Ruto implored upon the two leaders in a phone call that lasted close to 10 minutes to attend the Bukhungu rally.

Muluka’s sentiments comes in the backdrop of another tactful retreat where Jubilee MPs in a presser earlier today unanimously pledged to be part and parcel of the BBI rallies. The MPs however regretted that the BBI process had be turned in callous event of name calling instead of addressing the real issues as espoused in the BBI report. The legislators also took issues with what they termed as a clandestine BBI committee with hidden BBI draft report.

But in what might sent the ODM brigade back into the drawing board is their unilateral decision to be part of BBi activities going forward. Flanked by Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika, Kandara MP Alice Wahome and a host of other MPs, Senate Majority leader Murkomen said they will be attending BBI rallies starting from Mombasa this weekend.

“After wider deliberation and consultations as leaders… we have unanimously agreed that henceforth we will actively participate and, where necessary, take charge of these public rallies starting with Mombasa this weekend.

The sudden change of tactic might not sit well with ODM leader Raila Odinga who has been the driving force behind BBI activities. Raila’s new role has given him the necessary impetus as he prepares to mount a fifth stab at the presidency. With ODM already on the steering wheel navigating the BBI ship, any attempt by Jubilee to take a leading role in the BBI activities will only rock the already strained relationship between the two rival groups.
