A group of warriors from the expansive Rift Valley have vowed to protect DP William Ruto amid assassination threats from the ODM party leaders.
The group dubbed Warriors for Ruto said in the face of negligence or unwillingness on the part of the police to tame what is becoming fragrant and daylight threat to the life of DP Ruto, they had no option but to take up the duty of protecting the deputy president.
“It’s evident the police are unwilling to act on the grave statements by James Orengo which are not only threats but points to an assassination of the deputy president. It only means one thing. That the police are an accessory to the crime”, said the group through its spokesman.
Warriors for Ruto were responding to Siaya Senator James Orengo’s threats during the Narok BBI rally on Saturday that Ruto will not be there in 2022.
Orengo’s statements according to the Warriors for Ruto, points to a sinister plan to assassinate DP William Ruto before 2022 and has the backing of top powerful state house official.
The plan to assassinate DP Ruto first came to light when secret La Mada meetings that was chaired by Cabinet Secreratry Peter Munya leaked.
Orengo according to Wariors for Ruto was reiterating similar sentiments by Francis Atwoli and David Murathe who have made Ruto’s assassination a choral verse they sing in every rally.
A section of Jubilee MPs also hold the view that such threats can only be made with blessings of State House.
“I believe Francis Atwoli speaks with direct authority from State House”, said Moses Kuria.
Ruto is the leading contender for 2022 Presidential elections and is expected to face off with the opposition leader Raila Odinga in what is promising to be a tough duel.
Siaya senator’s remarks comes at a time police have concealed the identity of two foreigners in the Echesa scam alleged to be investors but likely to be mercenaries.
