A BBi committee meeting at an Eldoret Hotel ended prematurely after rowdy youth stormed the venue of meeting forcing the organisers to scamper for safety.
The meeting chaired by Elgeyo Marakwet governor Alex Tolgos and attended by among others Moiben MP Silas Tiren, Cherangany MP Joshua Kutuny among others ended prematurely in disarray as irate youth numbering in their hundreds stormed the venue chanting “Say No to BBi” slogans.
Tolgos who was addressing the committee members during the incident was forced to cut short by the uncontrollable youth.
Efforts by the organisers to calm down the irate youth was futile forcing Tolgos to flee through the backdoor leaving his shoe behind.
Joshua Kutuny who was unable to escape was roughed up by the rowdy youth for disrespecting DP William Ruto. Police had to intervene.
Tolgos and team were meeting in preparation of forthcoming BBi rally at 64 Stadium in Eldoret this weekend. The Elgeyo Marakwet governor and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi are the regional BBi team leaders in the greater Rift Valley.
The BBi team has come under criticism for overseeing other leaders and settling on the duo.
Today’s fracas sets stage for yet another looming ugly confrontation over the weekend when BBi brigade land in Eldoret. Reports indicate that the team is contemplating shifting the rally to Nakuru, a ground considered less hostile.
Already Charity Ngilu has been warned against attending the Eldoret rally following her order to evict Moses Kuria during the Kitui BBi rally. ODM MPs have also been warned against disrespecting DP Ruto on his home county.
Tolgos was admitted in Eldoret Hospital after he sustained injuries. Doctors however say he is in stable condition.
