A police officer attached to DP Ruto Harambee Annex has been found killed as the plot into the sh 39 billion fake firearms scandal thickens.
Sergeant Kenei’s body was found dead in his house in Imara Daima with several bullet wounds.
His body has been taken to city mortuary.
Kenei was expected to record statement with DCI but went missing 2 days ago.
According to a source, Kenei was part of the officers manning Harambee annex when Rashid Echesa and the two foreigners visited Harambee Annex.
DP Ruto through his chief of staff Ken Osinde had written a letter to Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai calling for a thorough and expeditious investigations into the scam.
The killing of sergeant Kenei comes at a time when detectives are looking at the possibility of a different angle that the two foreigners linked to Rachid Echesa could be mercenaries hired to assassinate DP William Ruto.
It’s believed Kenei was privy to crucial evidence that might have shed light to the scam and that his killing was to concealed crucial evidence.
DCI boss George Kinoti has visited the scene in Imara Daima estate where Kenei was killed in his house.
Echesa and his co-accused were on Monday arraigned in court with charges of conspiracy to commit a felony and defraud.
