The difference between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga have threatened to delay the handover of the BBi report which is expected at the end of this month.
Sources within the taskforce say that the contentious clauses include the executive structure, status of Nairobi County, and the composition of Judicial Service Commission among others.
The difference follows Raila’s decision to back down from pushing for the creation of a powerful Premier position which Uhuru is said to be eying in 2022.
Raila is also said to support the retaining of the 47 counties with Uhuru keen on holding on the functions transferred from Nairobi County.
The BBi taskforce has been meeting to finalize its final report.
With Raila Odinga in abroad allegedly receiving treatment for a certain type of cancer, his faction in the taskforce have been hesitant to dilute the report without his consent, thus the delay.
The difference between the two leaders may set stage for a major confrontation if President Uhuru Kenyatta pushes unpopular changes not supported by ODM.
