Embattled Jubilee Secretary General has opened up for the first since getting involved in an accident that he says nearly took away his life.
Tuju returned to the country on Saturday from United Kingdom where he was receiving specialized treatment following a car accident on 12, February while attending the burial of former President Daniel Moi.
He was taken to Kijabe Hospital thereafter airlifted to Nairobi where he stayed in coma for a week at Karen Hospital before President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered he be airlifted to London for specialized treatment.
Speaking to a local media house for the first time since returning from London, Tuju says it was by the grace of God that he survived the accident.
He narrates the chilling ordeal as an assassination attempt on his life.
” I woke up in high spirit ready to pay my last respects to the late former President Daniel Moi at his Kabarak home. I didn’t know it would end this way”, he recalls.
” I don’t know how it happened but i can tell you for free that it was an assassination attempt on my life”, he added.
Tuju who linked the attempt on his life to Jubilee party leadership wrangles said he will not be cowed into backing out of defending his seat in the coming party elections.
According to the doctors report, Tuju broke 12 ribs, three vertebrae and injured his skull. The doctors have recommended 12 weeks of rest but the embattled secretary general says he feels fit as a fiddle and ready to go about his duties as a cabinet secretary and Jubilee secretary general.
