Former Kiambu governor William Kabogo has told off President Uhuru Kenyatta over his plan to impose BBI on the people of Mt. Kenya saying he will not force Raila down the throats of Mt. Kenya people.
Kabogo who said BBI was no longer a Building bridges initiative but a building competition initiative warned Uhuru that forcing Raila on Mt. Kenya people will backfire miserably.
Kabogo was commenting on opposition leader Raila Odinga’s sentiments that the people of Mt. Kenya had spoken through the BBI.
“It’s now competition as to who will become the Mt. KENYA leader after. H. E. UK. No one will force a leader on us, take that to the Bank. “Vitu kwa ground ni different” ,” he said.
Kabogo asked Raila Odinga to ask BBI Mt. Kenya BBI committees and governors to organize more rallies in their counties so he can know the mood in the grassroots.
Kabogo took a swipe at Kirinyaga governor Ann Waiguru and her Meru counterpart Kiraitu Murungi for the mess that was experienced in Saturday’s Meru BBI rally that saw supporters walk out en masse on Raila leaving him address an empty stadium.
“You should take responsibility for this mess (Meru bbi rally). Shame on you. You should do more rallies in your counties and asses your ground. You may end up quitting,” he remarked.
The poor show during Yesterday’s Meru rally has led to a series of counter accusation with Raila Odinga accused his handlers in a crisis meeting at a city hotel last night.
Raila’s share of misfortunes were not over yet as his usually charming and characteristically assertive voice deserted him when he would have used it to charm the crowd with ‘Nobody can stop reggae tune’.
The former prime minister is keen not to have the same replicated during the next BBI rallies scheduled for Nakuru and Eldoret.
